5 Remastered Games to own coming soon

As we continue to ride the “Remaster all the Games” wave, we bring you a list of must play remastered games coming sooner than later. Below is a list of 5 remastered games to be released in the coming weeks or months. If you’ve never played these games before, now is your chance to experience them at full res 1080p 60fps. Or if you just want to add them to your collection, like me, we give you a brief summary and price point. Stay tuned during the coming weeks, we will bring you a list of all remastered games worth experiencing again. Now on with the list – in order of release date:

Remastered Games Coming Soon:

1. Resident Evil 4 – Aug. 30 – $19.99 USD

re4shotThe granddaddy of them all – the first RE game to bring you a third person over the shoulder perspective is back. The game will run at 1080p and an increased frame rate, releasing for both PS4 and XBOX ONE. Now is your chance to experience the Horror once again with none other than bad ass Leon S. Kennedy in full res. The digital release will be available August 30 12am ET with a physical version expected the same day. At 20 bucks I think it’s worth a re-buy – I’ll be picking up the physical release.

2. BioShock: The Collection – Sept. 13 – $59.99 USD

bioshock_collection_heroThis one if fully loaded, the whole Bioshock collection, with DLC and all, remastered in 1080p. You’ll be getting the main Bioshock game with all its DLC, Bioshock 2 and its DLC. And Bioshock Infinite with all its DLC. That’s 3 full blockbuster games, plus a director’s commentary. It’s the perfect time to go back to rapture and confront the big daddy. The game will be available for the PS4 and XBOX ONE starting September 30th. This is a very sweet deal; however, I would probably wait till the holyday season to see if the price goes down.

3. Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration – Oct. 11 – $59.99 USD

tr_20This is more of a special edition release than a remastered game. Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration will include the critically acclaimed adventure. Along with a new single player story chapter called ‘Blood Ties’ where you get to explore Lara’s childhood home Croft Manor. The game will include all DLC which is already saying a lot – but will also include extra modes like “Extreme Survivor” which increases the difficulty significantly. The PS4 will also support VR which will let you explore Lara’s home through her eyes. The game will also be available for the XBOX ONE platform, sans VR support.

This is a great package, but if you already own the game or played it through, you might have second thoughts. You’ll be the judge on this one. Personally I think the DLC alone is worth it. But secretly I want to own all these games. The choice is yours.

4. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition – Oct. 25 – $19.99 / €19.99 / £14.99

DS1_Screenshot_1_medThis was a sleeper hit that released back in 2010. I personally enjoyed this game very much, and its sequel. Darksiders is an action role-playing hack and slash video game, in the spirit of Zelda and God of War. The game was developed by Vigil Games and published by THQ. But Nordic has bought the rights since then. The remastered version will release for PC, PS4, XBOX ONE, and Wii U. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the third instalment of this series. The fact that a remastered game edition of the original is being released is a good sign.

With the exception of the Wii U, which will run at 30fps. Expect Darksiders: Warmastered Edition to run at 1080p and 60fps. Straight from the trenches, all the games textures have been doubled, shadow rendering has been improved and more. At $20 bucks, this is a great chance to enjoy this epic adventure about War, one of the four horseman of the apocalypse, and the premature end of the world.

5. Batman: Return to Arkham – Dec 31 (Delayed) – $49.99 USD

box-artThis package lands you two of the greatest Batman stories ever along with all their DLC. Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City are included fully remastered with updated visuals. This is a great deal for two great remastered games. Personally I think that all remastered games should be $49.99 not $59.99.

Batman: Arkham Asylum takes you on a twisted journey into the depths of Arkham Asylum. This dark, psychological adventure game puts you face to face with Batman’s arch nemesis The Joker. During your adventure as Batman, you’ll rely on your detective skills and gadgetry to traverse the twisted asylum, meeting some of Gotham’s most notorious villains along the way.

Batman: Arkham City is an all new story taking place in the heart of Gotham, a heavily fortified sprawling district called Arkham City. As Batman it is up to you to restore chaos, facing classic villains from the Batman universe.
