Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2017 and Why You Should Be Excited

The newest game from the people who brought you ‘The Witcher’ has been working on a new game. The new game is Cyberpunk 2077. There was a teaser trailer shown in 2013. Since then the game has caught the eye of many people interested in the story and the world of this RPG. This game is marketed to mature audiences, which means that we can keep our imaginations running wild at what can happen in the story-line.

Much like the ‘pen-and-paper’ version of the game, we will experience corporate greed, psychotic killers, and government control that is set in the futuristic cyberpunk world, in the near future of the year 2077.

Cyberpunk World

First off, I’m a cyberpunk fan. From the great sci-fi films to the retrowave music streaming online. I grew up watching Harrison Ford in Blade Runner and Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall. The world of cyberpunk goes deep in some people’s lives. The alternate reality of a slowly developed world of machines and the problems that arise in new technology is the center of what makes cyberpunk such a great genre to experience.

Cyberpunk 2077

Here’s what we know so far about the Cyberpunk 2077. So far it’s known that the game will have a non-linear story that will allow you to choose different characters and classes. We know that when you play the game, you will be able to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives. We also know that the game will try to stay true to the tabletop pen-and-paper version of the game. How they make that conversion, is the challenge.

Cyberpunk, mainly known by its second edition title Cyberpunk 2020, is a cyberpunk role-playing game written by Mike Pondsmith and published by R. Talsorian Games in 1988.

The Cyberpunk 2020 is a tabletop game developed with old school pen and paper gameplay. The core handbook is roughly 300 pages long. The rulebook is designed in a gritty comic style mixed with newspapers type headlines.

The handbook alone is enough to entice you of the cyberpunk world you’re about to join. The handbook contains around 3-5 stories (I think) to get you started in the crazy night city. A lot of classes to choose from and lots of room to really roleplay your character.

Since these are the same developer who created ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘, we can expect something similar in terms of gameplay and graphical detail. We can also expect the side quest to be very entwined with the cyberpunk world, to really make us feel like we’ve entered a living breathing city. Be sure to check out the teaser trailer for Cyberpunk 2077.

When it comes to cyberpunk, it’s hard to not be embraced by its imaginative views of technology and human nature.I’m sure I’m not alone when I say, we want to hear more news on the game. The game has been in the shadows for quite some time now. It’s time to reveal the details and get the Cyberpunk 2020 community excited!
