Electronic Gaming Expo (E3) 2018 – Day 2 Recap

Today was day two of Electronic Gaming Expo (E3) 2018 and overall it was a productive experience. Everything from panels, voice actors, and live developer news were waiting for me at the Microsoft Novo theatre.

Day 2 of E3 2018 started with an early morning wake up at 7 a.m. after showering and getting ready, I realized that today was the main day for networking. So I made a quick business card design on the computer and saved it in my email. I then Immediately drove to Staples to print out the business cards. Was so happy that the sales associate was able to rush these for me in about 20 min total time. I then drove straight down to E3 where there was a little bit of traffic going to Downtown LA. I parked behind the convention for $25 and walked towards the front to see the huge line of entry.

After seeing the line, I did not want to wait in the sun, so I went to the PlayStation Trophy bar to relax and have a quick beer. The bar was located outside in the middle of west and south hall. The bar’s atmosphere was filled with cold visible air conditioning and deep house music blaring. I decided that it was time to make my way to the Novo to check out some panels.

The Microsoft Novo (a.k.a. The E3 coliseum was a place for panels and talks with developers and voice actors. I was able to catch a glimpse of the Lego DC Super Villian’s games panel. Even though I only saw 10 min of the panel, I was able to jot down a lot of notes on my yellow paper clipboard. The panel finished and Roberto from EXP Grind was calling asking where I was. He met me at the Novo, where we continued to watch the next panel, The Ghost of Tsushima.

The next panel was starting at 1 pm. My body felt energized, my mind felt open. I was in a mode that made me feel like a reporter or news journalist. With my pen in hand, I was ready to be presented with the exclusive information and post on the website. After standing up, from the seating, I see Roberto walking in. I approach him and greet him with an ice cold IPA beer from the luxurious looking bar. The long-haired bartender compliments the tip I leave as we made way back to the seating area. The panel arrives and We start to hear the developers talk about the long process of The Ghost of Tsushima game for PS4.

Once we finished the panel, it was time to eat lunch. We decided to eat at Tom’s Urban (Yes, you hear me right). Tom’s Urban if you remember was the same place I got food poisoning from last year at E3. We decided to eat there because of the price and the drink specials, besides, what are the chances of me getting food poisoning twice? After eating and drinking mixed drinks from the booze cruise menu, not only did I not get sick, I felt really good and ready to network. We made our way back to the convention, where we would network with indie developers for a couple hours.

The rest of the day was spent on talking with interesting people, networking, Trying out new gaming products, and overall getting our name out to these industry professionals.

Can’t wait for day 3, this will be another Networking day for me. I plan on talking with everyone I didn’t get a chance to meet at E3 2018, and giving them my new calling card.
