Star Wars Rebels Mid-Season 3 Trailer Highlights

The Mid Season premier trailer for season 3 of Star Wars Rebels was released today. And boy are things getting serious, things are getting real, and the rebellion is official. With the recent release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a lot more information can be shared with us regarding the events that led up to that point in time. As you might know there were a lot of easter eggs in Rogue One to tie in the Rebels series, but that’s beyond the point of this post, we’re here to talk about the awesome trailer released today for Star Wars Rebels.

The Star Wars Rebels trailer packed a lot of information, so we’ll focus on the major highlights that go me very excited. If you want to talk more about the trailer feel free to ask away on the trailers, believe me we are eager to chat about this very broad subject.

Star Wars Rebels

Mon Mothma makes her official appearance on the show, and gives the rebellion its official status as an organized group. Mon Mothma along with senator Bail Organa are two of the few senate members to officially although clandestinely support the rebellion. And it appears in the trailer, that we will get to see the official starting point of the full-fledged Rebellion. Her first appearance was in Return of the Jedi. Had a couple of cameos in the Clone Wars series which is also canon. But her major part was in Rogue One. Which begs the question, where is she during the events of Episode IV and V?

Star Wars RebelsSaw Gerrera, the extremist and first rebel, makes his official appearance in the second half of season 3 of Star Wars Rebels. The character was immortalized in the Rogue One movie, but his first appearance was in Star Wars: The Cone Wars series. It can be considered that he was the very first Rebel in the rebellion, he witnessed the Republic turn into the Empire. The same soldiers that he was fighting alongside, suddenly became the enemy. So, he never stopped fighting. It’s almost by law that he must make an appearance in Star Wars Rebels to help the rebellion take their first steps at going against the Empire.

Star Wars Rebels

Obi-Wan’s return since Revenge of the Sith. This had me salivating as soon as I saw it. Obi-Wan appeared in the first season of Star Wars Rebels as a hologram. Ezra managed to open the Jedi Holocron in the first episode. Obi-Wan Kenobi gave a warning to all remaining Jedi after Order 66 during the end of the Clone Wars. In this trailer, we see that hologram again, but a bit more distorted. Obi-Wan’s voice saying “this is a warning” echoes through the entirety of the trailer. However, that is not all that we will get to see of master Obi-Wan Kenobi, the best scene is at the end of the trailer.

Star Wars Rebels

Darth Maul locates Obi-Wan on Tatooine. We know that Obi-Wan is in Tatooine after receiving a special task from Yoda at the end of Revenge of the Sith. And we know that Ezra and Darth Maul received a vision after combining the Jedi and Sith Holocrons. There isn’t much detail on what Darth Maul saw in that vision, but we did see what Ezra saw. He saw the twin suns of Tatooine. I think it’s amazing that we will get to see what Obi-Wan is doing during his time in Tatooine. Will he put Darth Maul down for good, there is just no way he can let him escape? He must remain in hiding, or risk compromising Luke or himself to the Empire. And all of this is canon, I’m thinking an Obi-Wan movie.

Star Wars Rebels Season 3 – Mid-Season Trailer (Official)

There’s lots more things to keep an eye on for the upcoming second half of season 3. We will see more of Thrawn, Tarkin, more Mandalorians, and the Darksaber. Not to mention what happens to our new ally Agent Kallus/Fulcrum. Like we mentioned above the Star Wars Rebels trailer is packed with awesomeness and tidbits.
