Recently, we’ve been playing a lot of action multiplayer RPG games across all platform. Some of us are fans of Monster Hunter types games, and some of us have never played it. Here is a Q&A session following a debate about Monster hunter vs. Dauntless.
Do you think dauntless is more popular than Monster Hunter?
Chris: WTH, no! Monster Hunter has been around for a very long time. Also, I don’t think that’s what Dauntless is trying to do. I think Dauntless is a different game altogether, just similar to Monster Hunter. I don’t think it’s right to even really compare them, especially in terms of popularity. Monster Hunter has been around since the PS2 days +10 years ago. I can tell you right now that I don’t think Dauntless will never surpass Monster Hunter in terms of popularity. I mean I still play Monster Hunter 3 on my Nintendo 3DS. This is no popularity contest. I think Dauntless will shine for it’s unique approach to the genre, and fans of the genre will appreciate it.
Once they bring it over to consoles, do you believe it’ll have more players then Monster Hunter?
Chris: NO, again, this is not a popularity contest for either game. Monster Hunter games are very big, lots of grinding and farming for hours. You can easily play Monster Hunter for a year straight. I’m not saying Dauntless won’t do good on console, I’m just saying, no one should try to turn them into rivals, they’re not even in the same league (maybe one day). Dauntless being released on console as a Free-to-play game will bring over a large crowd (I know I’ll be playing it)
Have you ever played Dauntless?
Chris: Not yet, but I plan on playing when it releases for PS4. Right now that is the main video gaming platform since my computer is currently being used by my brother for his Twitch streams.
Do you know what Dauntless is?
Chris: Yes. Dauntless is an Online Action RPG. The game has different classes and styles of combat. The game is similar to Monster Hunter
Do you believe that Dauntless should have more media coverage, for example, Streams, Gameplays, and walkthroughs?
Chris: I’m a strong believer that the game will speak for itself. If you have a good game, the crowd will follow. I think the game should be covered more, but I wouldn’t force it on players. You can have all the media coverage you want, and even try to force it on people, but that doesn’t mean people will like it. You may even a lot of unnecessary negative feedback.
So that’s what we thought about the upcoming free-to-play game Dauntless. If you liked this Q&A be sure to check out our last Q&A session about EA and Anthem.
